Olivier Award Winning Legally Blonde

If you are only going to catch one London musical this year, make sure it is Legally Blonde. This new play is one of the most fabulous productions in recent years and has received critical acclaim from a variety of press.

It also the winner of Best New Musical at the 2011 Laurence Olivier Awards, and won a further two Olivier Awards for Best Leading Actress (Sheridan Smith) and Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical (Jill Halfpenny).

The musical is based on the first film which is also titled Legally Blonde, and is a coming age story about Elle Woods who follows her ex-boyfriend Warner to Havard University to prove to him that she can be the intelligent girlfriend that he wants for his image. However, when Elle finds out he has dumped her for a more serious girlfriend, she is not only prove that she is good enough for him, but that she can compete with her fellow students.

The show which originally debuted on Broadway hit the London stage in 2009, has since delighted audience members with it's fun and upbeat songs, wonderful performances by the cast and, of course, the bend and snap.
