Bernard Shaw's ever-entertaining dramatic tour de force is a
provocative assault on the sexual politics, educational limitations and class
structure of his day. The story stars egocentric Professor of Phonetics,
Henry
Higgins, making a bet with his friend Colonel Pickering that he can transform
the manners and speech of Cockney flower girl
Eliza Doolittle and pass her off
as a lady in society. With
Rupert Everett and
Kara Tointon already confirming
their roles as Higgins and Doolittle respectively,
Pygmalion tickets are sure to sell out; showing at the
Garrick
Theatre from the 12th of May, now is your chance to get hold of
these
London theatre tickets today.
World-famous thespian
Rupert Everett has appeared in numerous
award-winning and ground-breaking productions. His first major role came in
1984 when he was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Newcomer for his
portrayal of
Guy Bennett in the film
adaptation of
Another Country; the
film itself winning a Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Artistic
Contribution. Perhaps his most famous role was as
George Downes in the 1997 film
My
Best Friend’s Wedding, a film that remains as one of the top 8 highest
grossing films in the world. For his performance, Everett won the American
Comedy Award for Funniest Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture as well as being
nominated for a Golden Globe (Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture) and
another BAFTA (Best Actor in a Supporting Role). He was nominated for another
Golden Globe (Best Actor – Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy) for his role as
Lord Goring in the 1999 film adaptation of the Oscar Wilde classic
An Ideal Husband. Everett has also leant
his voice to both
Shrek 2 and
Shrek The Third, playing the role of the
evil
Prince Charming. With an acting
pedigree such as this it will be no surprise when
Pygmalion tickets sell out night after night.
